8 months ago, I bought a house. A crazy, colorful, mess of a house that needed (and still does) some serious TLC. But. I. Loved. It. And still do. Most of the time.

So sign my life away I did, and I closed on July 8th, 2011.

Nor did I love having to replace the back window and door (remember this picture, wait until you see it NOW!):
Including first priming it. Um, because, did you SEE those colors!? Did I also mention they also painted inside the closets. And THE CEILINGS OF THE CLOSETS?
On most days, I believe I may have gotten more paint on myself than on the walls.
But boy, do I love calling it MY house. Mine.

(Don't worry, I also re-carpeted after the painting was over).
Movingrightalong.
8 months later (enter this week), I've found the courage to pick up another paintbrush. Did I mention that when I bought it, I had 3 weeks (did I also mention I closed on the same week I started my new job teaching HS?) to paint the entire house. Top. To. Bottom. Ok, really. Moving along now.
I decided to take on the living room/kitchen area (it's all one joint room).

Before my Mom came for my birthday, I picked out a brown and beige color that matched my also new carpet, and painted a couple of the living room walls.

I. Love. It.
Does it amaze anyone else how paint stores have 100,000,000 choices, and yet none of them seem right? Phew. So it isn't just me.

While my Mom worked on curtains (thank you Mom!), I worked on painting matching strips on the island (based on a picture I found in a magazine that I loved!). OK, she helped with that too. What DOESN'T this woman do!?
(Before:)
(Here goes nothin'!)

After! But still just a tad too white back there.

So we painted the rest of the kitchen too, of course!
Oh, and I bought myself a dinner table. Which I didn't even know I was in the market for. Have I also mentioned that I also wasn't in the house-buying market when I bought that, either? Both of these things have happened when my Mom has visited. This woman is bad news.
But I must admit, it does look GREAT!

My favorite little nook in my house:)
That's all for now!!!
