Football, Running and Bisbee!

LOTS to share about this past weekend :)

The weekend started with a 9 mile run on Saturday morning. Very. HILLY. Run. I'm STILL sore, but it was a good one! I even found a new running buddy!

Yes, that is a tarantula. The second one I've seen in my 3 years here. It doesn't get any easier to see, let me tell you. Yuck.

Anyways.

Saturday evening began with some tailgating on the U of Arizona campus.

BIG game against Iowa this weekend (Arizona won in a huge upset)!
Below is my friend Aimee, we teach together.

And this is Lily, my new roommate!

Tickets to go the actual game ranged from $45-$200, so we all decided we would watch the game on the mall (right in front of the stadium) -- the people we were tailgating with had flat screen TVs set up to show the game.

Fun, right? Well - it was. Until the sprinklers came on in the 4th quarter and soaked.us.all.

Yeah, you heard me. We were all sitting innocently (us an a lot of other people I might add) watching the game, eating hot dogs (our friends had a grill, too) and drinking some refreshing beverages when we all got HIT with high power sprinklers. Oh boy.

Sunday morning I headed to Bisbee, Arizona with my friends Heather and Matt High - an old mining town.

We started by checking out some of the antique shops - which of course included trying on some of the hats :) It REALLY reminded me of being in Grandma K's house!

After wandering and sight seeing, Heather and I did a "mine tour" -- an actual little train that took us through a real mine. It was amazing how CHILLY it was in the mine! It felt great.

Disclaimer: I AM WEARING something underneath, despite this misleading picture!

Here is some kind of tool they used to drill. I would probably be able to tell you exactly what it did if I were listening (tour guide to my right) instead of taking pictures. But we were having fun :)
Self explanatory... YIKES!

This is an actual steel bike that they used to transport copper around in.
And I thought MY bike was uncomfortable to sit on....

SUPER fun day! :) Thanks Heather and Matt!

Wine Tasting

About a month ago, some friends and I went to Sonoita Vineyards,
about an hour and a half south of Tucson.

The drive to get there was SO PRETTY!
For about $15, we all got all of the samples we wanted.
Which was a lot. It was fun. See below.

On a sad note, it was raining so we didn't get to go horseback riding or participate in any of the outdoor events, but we enjoyed the day nevertheless!

Can you believe how green it is? You almost wouldn't believe this is Tucson...

Even more fun? All of these pictures were taken with my iphone. Not too bad for a phone! :)

Awesome day. Can't wait to do it again sometime! :)
