So for a couple of months now, I have been training almost daily in preparation for this event!
And as a part of this training, about once a month, my friends from work and I have been signing up for various runs around Tucson and Phoenix. But not just ANY RUNS, instead we look for fun, exciting runs!
So on Saturday, we did the "Mad Mud Run," yes you read that correctly. It was MAD. It was MUDDY. And we ran 4 miles. But that was the boring part.
So we clearly had to coordinate our outfits for this highly special event. A big part of this race was the fact that every half mile or so, we would come across some kind of obstacle.
In one spot, we had to lift each other over a wall (that was interesting... especially after I helped Chelsea over and was then stuck alone on the other side!). Thank goodness she cheated and ran back around the wall to lift me over:
Army crawl under a low lying tarp, walk across balance beams:
Climb over bails of hay:
And we were getting tired after about 3 miles:
But kept right on smiling!!!!:
At this point, you may be curious: "But the run is called the mad MUD run!" And you're right to be thinking that way. Because after all of those obstacles, we had to crawl through.... a LOT... of mud.
Now at first, I thought "Hey, that isn't too bad, I bet we just have to hop over those flags!"
Yeah.
Well I was WRONG.
We had to go UNDER The flags. Imagine my shock and horror once that dawned on me!!!!
Yeah.
Well I was WRONG.
We had to go UNDER The flags. Imagine my shock and horror once that dawned on me!!!!
Post crawling through the mud:
And finally, heading arm and arm through the FINISH LINE!!!:
Washing machine water with my muddy clothes inside:
